Guest Guide

Vancouver Edition

Hello and thank you for choosing to attend this amazing one-of-a-kind event! This page will help you anticipate how the night’s proceedings will unfold and how to prepare in order to make the most out of your night.

Before You Arrive

Compete as Best Cannabis Collector

Bring your favourite cannabis flower for a chance to win the ultimate award of the night: Best Cannabis Collector a.k.a the person that brought the best flower. It is not a requirement to bring a cannabis flower submission to participate but it is highly encouraged as you may want to share, squeeze into rosin, or have it judged by others to see what score it gets.

  • To prepare your entry, purchase 14 grams of a single cannabis cultivar from a licensed cannabis store. Keep the product in its original packaging so we can record the data upon arrival.
  • Keep in mind that if someone else submits your choice before you do, you will not be allowed to register your submission as we do not allow double entries. One submission per person, first come first serve.
The purpose of Collector’s Cup is to judge cannabis flower with no bias about the cultivar name, breeder, grower, or brand. Please respect this rule as it is critical for the integrity of the competitions.
Personal Items

Rolling materials will be provided at the Collector’s Cup, but it doesn’t hurt to bring some of your own personal items including:

  • Lighter
  • Glass tip/joint holder (if possible) so we can avoid spreading germs. Joints will be inevitably passed around.
  • Personal weed kit if you like to roll your joints your way.
  • Dab device (rig/pen/etc) in case you want to dab the rosin that we will be squeezing.
  • Debit card/credit card if you want to buy some merchandise. NO CANNABIS SALES ARE PERMITTED.

When You Arrive

Aim to arrive at the Wise Hall around 5:00PM and definitely before 6PM. You will be received by CannaReps staff and assisted with your cannabis registration. Cultivars will not be registered after 6pm.

At the doors you will need:

  • COVID Vaccination card or Rapid Test within the past 24 hours.
  • Government issued ID with photo for age verification (age 19+ only).
  • To be verified as a registered guest. This event is sold out event and tickets are not available at the door.
  • Your cultivar entry (14 grams minimum).

After You Check In

  1. Head to the Collection Table to register your entry.
    • We will record the Retailer name, Cultivar name, and LP information that is on the package.
  2. You will then place your cultivar into a numbered jar provided by CannaReps.
    • The assigned number replaces the cultivar name during the competition. This keeps all the flowers anonymous for unbiased judging.
  3. You keep your cannabis with you for Round 1 of cannabis judging.

Please note the first rule of Collector’s Cup: You do not talk about your cultivar.
Be sure not to share information about the cultivar, including the name and the LP/grower for the remainder of the night until the top flower is announced.

What happens to my cannabis? Sharing is caring!

The Collector’s Cup is designed for guests to share their cannabis flower for tasting and grading by other attendees. As you share your cannabis, you will also get to taste and grade cannabis from others. All guests will be judging the cannabis flowers on appearance, smell, and taste by only using the assigned number as the ‘name’ of the cultivar.

If your flower wins the first round of tasting, it will then be moved by a CannaReps usher to another group for Round 2 of unbiased judging.

  • If your flower does not make it past Round 1, you keep your flower for the rest of the night.
  • Collectors can expect about half (7 grams) of their submission back after the first round of tastings while those that make it to the final round should only expect a few grams back after the winner is announced.

If your flower makes it to the Top 3 for the final round of judging, it will be brought on stage for the Top 3 Cannabis Sommeliers to judge and determine the best flower of the night. CannaReps will then reveal the name of the cultivar, retailer it was purchased at, grower/producer, and issue the award to the person that brought the best flower, as Best Cannabis Collector.

Why am I not allowed to share the name and producer of the cultivar?

The purpose of the Collector’s Cup is to judge cannabis flower with no bias about the cultivar name, breeder, grower, or brand.

There will be a secondary competition for Best Cannabis Sommelier, which is a contest to see who can get the most accurate guesses for each flower’s cultivar name and grower/producer. The top 3 contestants will face off on a final Blind ID challenge as well as become the finalist judges for best flower.

Please respect this rule as it is critical for the integrity of the competitions.
