The Collector's Cup Guest Guide

Toronto Edition

Hello and thank you for choosing to attend this amazing one-of-a-kind event!

This document will help you anticipate how the night’s proceedings will unfold and how to prepare in order to make the most out of your night.

Before Your Arrival

Remember: This is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bud) event!

We highly suggest that you gather 14g of your favorite flower obtained from a provincially licensed store for a chance to win the ultimate award of the night: Best Cannabis Collector. It is not a requirement to bring a flower submission but it is highly encouraged as this will make the evening more fun for everyone.

There are other benefits to bringing your flower like free rosin pressings and the opportunity to taste and share with other attendees after the main tasting.

This event will have a covered outdoor patio where you can smoke and dab, so make sure to come prepared with your weed kit!

REMEMBER
THE FIRST RULE ABOUT COLLECTOR’S CUP IS:
YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR CULTIVAR

The purpose of Collector’s Cup is to judge cannabis flower without the bias of cultivar name, grower, breeder or biochemical content. This information will become available to you after the tasting. Please respect this rule as it is critical for the integrity of the competitions.

When You Arrive

Aim to arrive at TacoTaco (319 Augusta, Kensington Market, Toronto) around 1:00PM and definitely before 2:00 PM

You will be checked-in by CannaReps staff where you will receive your wristband for re-entry and a name tag. Be sure to give yourself ample arrival time. Cultivars will not be registered after 2:30pm.

At the doors you will need:

  • Government issued ID with photo for age verification (age 19+ only).
  • To be verified as a registered guest. Tickets will not be available at the door.
  • Your cultivar entry (14 grams minimum).

After You Check In

REMEMBER
THE SECOND RULE ABOUT COLLECTOR’S CUP IS:
YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR CULTIVAR

The purpose of Collector’s Cup is to judge cannabis flower without the bias of cultivar name, grower, breeder or biochemical content. This information will become available to you after the tasting. Please respect this rule as it is critical for the integrity of the competitions.

To register your cultivar submission

Head to the Collection Table to register your entry. CannaReps staff and volunteers will record the retailer name, cultivar name, and LP information as found on the packaging. You will then place your cultivar into a numbered jar provided by CannaReps. This keeps all the flowers anonymous for unbiased judging.

Cannabis judging starts at 3:00PM so you must register your 14g of flower by 2:30PM at the very latest.

What happens to my cannabis? Sharing is caring!

The Collector’s Cup is designed for guests to share their flowers compliantly while conducting blind tastings where each attendee can taste the flowers brought by others.

Ushers will be assigned to each table to provide guidance on using the Cannabis Sommelier Quality Grading Tool, which can be found on our website.

Here’s how flower judging will work
  • You will keep your numbered jar with you until ushers collect them from your table.
  • All attendees will have the option to judge flowers either as a group with the guidance of a trained cannabis sommelier, or as individuals.
  • Ushers will collect and re-distribute flowers equally throughout the room at 3:00PM, so that each guest is tasting flowers brought by others.
  • Each guest will taste and judge approximately 3 flowers during the one hour judging period.
  • Collectors should expect about half (7 grams) of their submission back.
  • After the winners are announced, flowers will be returned to the same table from which they were collected.
